Was planning to do some planting today but instead spent several hours digging up plants in the over-the-road neighbour's yard. You might remember he said I could have his bulbs for the Open Day? He forgot to mention he expected me to dig them up. So two barrow loads of bulbs and plants (doesn't sound much but remember between each barrow load it was necessary to sort them, bundle them, stack them and get them ready and identifiable for the Open Day. I now have two milk crates full of daffodil bulbs bundled into 12s, a sack full of jonquil bulbs bundled into 12s, half a sack of sicilian bluebells, nine paper bags with a bit over 20 grape hycinths, 11 pots of hellebores and two of hellebore roots and my back is killing me, and the loungeroom festooned with sacks. Brought them indoors as rain is threatened and drying them out seems a good idea (the bulbs, that is, the hellbores are outside waiting for the rain).

Time for a cuppa before my friend arrives with the uteload of wood for me to cut up for the fire (hope she remembers you can't burn treated timber this time).
