Today was remarkably productive considering. I had to go into town to have a phone conversation with the Uni about their master of Education course, and have, as a consequence, applied for acceptance into the course. So that's one thing down.
I also had to see the Workskills man about the Garden activities and as a result of that conversation have identified a number of options for getting volunteer labour into the gardens (well, work for the dole) and skills building opportunities for them. Basically at this point we are talking about a supervised team of young lads to do stuff like building beds, building paths, moving the glass house from the school farm and onto the garden etc. The expectation is that I would be the person responsible for reporting who does and does not turn up (policeman) but also identifying their areas of interest and seeing about facilitating them into the workforce or work experience opportunities where possible. So that sounds like fun. Will see how the rest of the 'committee' feel about it. It also allows similar opportunities for the Parattah Committees that are trying to recruit me at present if they would allow me to become their projects officer. So it's all quite exciting really.
Heavy rain this morning but bright sunshine tonight - and a chicken, proscuitto and leek casserole just gone into the oven. Once that is cooked there will be a lamb curry happening.
