Last night was blessedly peaceful with no more squabbling geese. They were fairly vocal today, but the frequent visits by the local wedgetailed eagle probably account for that.

Howling gales whistling around the place today with occasional scuds of rain. A little more bemusing was the very fine snow that appeared out of a warm, windy sky. Only very tiny flakes, but having checked weatherzone, apparently there is a chance of more tonight. So not terribly encouraging weather for outdoor pursuits, but i nevertheless managed to complete filling the last wicking bed and plant out the raspberry canes that have been patiently waiting a permanent home in the sand-pit. Also pruned three canes that had popped up from under the shed last year and cut them into lengths that have also been popped into the bed in the hope they will shoot. And all watered in with seasol for a bit of encouragement. Behind them, I have planted a selection of lettuce that had been sitting in a punnet for a bit too long. Not sure if they will survive the present wild weather and the projected snow, but they are under a layer of hay (assuming it has not blown off, like everything else around here) and that will hopefully protect them from the worst.

Bits of cardboard and hay blowing everywhere as the mulch along the hedge disintegrates, but not much I can do about that apart from waiting till the wind drops. So the dog, the cats and I are having an early finish and will ride out the storm.
