You know it's cold when the ice is inside the windows. Despite this it was strangely cosy indoors, especially once the fire was revived. Then I checked onto Weatherzone: See that spike on the right hand side? The top of that line is minus 2... It started off at minus 4.9 which I think we can agree is a bit rich for this time of year. The sunrise (over the frozen wastes of the back yard) was something of a compensation. It was one of those times when the slight mist allows the tree in front of the sun to appear to be casting a shadow over the sun's rays. . A rather excellent result I hope you agree. The man who was scheduled to come at 10:30 turned up at 9:30 having overcompensated for the impact of ice on the road, so was well out of the way before the day truly started. So more wood was cut, more tidying up was achieved and a rather large stew, featuring a selection of root veges went into the oven at 3ish. It came out a few minutes ago, adorned with dumplings. mmmmmmmmmmmm

  1. Brr! That is an extreme weather event! How strange that you are so cold, and here in Perth we are balmy beyond all expectations for this time of the year. I bet that casserole was welcome!

  2. Yes, it has been all over the shop lately. All terribly hard to cope with clothing wise. But I did say some time ago this winter would be early, and hard. Hopefully it is also going to be short.
