Today's working bee was rather successful. We managed to flatten the entire acre and remove all the weeds and rubbish while another team worked on rubbing back paint, repairing windows and generally smartening things up. It seems the plan is to get the place looking nice and then sell it, as it is too difficult for her to manage the payments with her husband gone. So a good day's work - if a tiring one.
Food was laid on as was a ready supply of beautiful coffee, but frankly I would have preferred some iced water from time to time as it is dry work slashing weeds around buildings (she has three rather wonderful sheds in the back yard) and finding strange objects (discarded thongs, bits of brick etc) as you go along. It would make a good buy if you were handy, though the house needs some work. It is an acre of land in the middle of Oatlands with the house set off to one side, permitting subdivision of the rear if you felt so inclined, without feeling you were crowded by the new residence since the three sheds are between the potential building site and the house. Ah daydreams.
So I am home, and the dogs walked and the fire lit about an hour ago as it was starting to get a bit chilly, though is now a little too warm - sigh.
I will be heading to bed in the not too distant future, to save up some energy to tackle a bit more of my own back yard and get the washing done if the weather permits tomorrow.
