March in March - Hobart

Foregathering at Princes Park, Battery Point. There were three rallying points, and this was the smallest group. We marched down to Parliament Lawns and there was already a large crowd there, so we assumed the other two groups had already arrived. The songs were sung, the speakers started speaking, and then the group that had gathered at Elizabeth College started to arrive. And arrive. And arrive - I was astonished. People from all over Tassie (one speaker was a single mum from Devonport), and the vibe was really very positive considering the results of the election here.

Apparently no-one had briefed the police so there was only one police officer there that I spotted, and the media was apparently recovering from post-election trauma as there was no-one in sight when we started. Then people started posting their images on the FB pages, and tweeting them (there was a media alert hash tag arranged Nationally). By the end there was a veritable scrum of them gathered round the organisers as we all packed up to go home. Well done Tassie (even if you haven't worked out how to vote intelligently.
