Twas Friday - D-day for the electrician (but he seems to have overlooked that) and Wayne-day for me. Wayne arrived at 10ish and we set to work organising a few sheets of iron to go onto the ground below where the wood was to be stacked, then transferred the wood from alongside the caravan, sorting it into tip/burn/store as we went. There is now a huge pile of wood to be loaded into the back of the ute for tomorrow morning tip opening, and a not so huge pile to be cut for firewood and a smaller-still pile of potentially useful wood stowed down below the garden tanks.
To keep up our strength we had humming bird cake and egg and bacon pie so we remained fighting fit for the duration - it also kept us amused during the odd rainfall period. Wayne has also taken the measurements for the two walls that remain to be clad and we have concluded that maybe the shed is not worth saving. In some ways this is a good thing. Apart from the firewood that can be had from it, and the access to the roots of those darn raspberries that persist in growing despite several doses of Roundup, it will also allow me to see what the neighbour is up to down near the chicken run when she gets her moods upon her. I will get a metal shed and pop it up closer to the house so that it is more usefully accessible.
After he headed off I popped into Oatlands for a few things and am now settled back in my chair, watching the cat trying to make himself comfortable on a metal outdoor chair that he has tipped on its side while getting settled. Oooops, now fixed but I got an indignant stare as he now does not have a 45 degree nest to perch himself on.
Soooooooooo what to do about the electrician? Since it is Christmas, he will have a slight extension until after the mail is delivered on Monday. After that, he reaps what he has sown.
