It was market day today, and despite the debacle of the failed pickles I was able to rustle up enough lettuces to fill a wash basin and so took them in to sell at Eleanor's stall. Very cold though. Wind whistling through the stalls and making everyone chilly. Despite that some nice chats with various tourists who were camping down by the lake and good sales, and the good news is that Rotary is picking up responsibility for the market now, so no more stress for the poor girl whose idea it was who has been struggling to keep it going for us. They have the capacity to cover the cost of the public liability insurance that has kept things barely breaking even so far.
Barbara and Lucas came up for lunch and we had a lovely time rummaging through the shops before retiring to the estate for lunch and a long chat. Hummingbird cake for dessert and served with cream and strawberries from the garden.
