The cold (but sunny) spell continues with minus four last night. Today we managed to get up to two figures (just) and it was a lovely still day to boot. The ice finally disappeared around noon, just in time to start forming once more as the sun headed downhill in the afternoon. Cut a barrow-load of smaller wood since the chainsaw seems to have decided it has had enough (it will go in for a service tomorrow I think) and will not respond to my attempts to persuade it to start. Probably long overdue for a service anyway, so no harm done. May be forced to break out the electric blanket for duty tonight as minus five is predicted and judging from the chill already settling, will be achieved with no effort at all.
